Boston Area College Visits

Boston is well-known for being a hub of higher education, and Beyond Akeela leverages that by providing Boston area teens with opportunities to explore the colleges in their local community. Beyond Akeela teens explore public, private, large, and small colleges, with a variety of different learning supports. These visits give teens opportunities to learn about different learning environments and how they support teens with Asperger’s. Boston Area Community Service

Each teen participates in a community service program in which they earn 12 hours of service hours. They give back to their local community while developing critical job readiness skills. Typical options for community service include community gardens, libraries, dining services, and day camps. This program is a major highlight and differentiator for Beyond Akeela teens.

Boston Area Trips

There is so much to see and do around Boston! Boston teens get to explore the great history and attractions their city has to offer. Beyond Akeela teens do several trips into Boston and visit the best of the city. Tours at Fenway Park, New England Aquarium, Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Science, and more! Beyond Akeela teens practice using the “T”, and navigating different parts of the city independently. The group explores Boylston Street Shopping Area, the North End, Boston Common, and Faneuil Hall Marketplace.
